Hearth Alert: One person has Died From Lassa Fever at Tema General Hospital
According to GHS, a 26-year old man was rushed to Tema General Hospital with general weakness, severe headache, joint pain, profuse vomiting of blood with clots.
He came from kintampo North District to Tema. But before, he has already travelled to Eastern and Volta Regions.
He reported to the hospital on 23rd Feb, 2018 after the symptoms had worsened and was admitted .
His blood sample was taken and sent to Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) for laboratory investigation and it confirmed Lassa Fever.
The victim was managed in an isolation unit and late moved to infectious disease centre. The condition started deteriorating on the night of 27th Feb, 2018 and unfortunately , he died at the early hours of 28th Feb, 2018.
The Ghana Health Service and Ministry of Health have aken actions and measures about the disease.
